First-Time Setup – Grandstream WP826/836 Cordless Wi-Fi Phone

The Grandstream WP826/836 is a cordless Wi-Fi IP phone designed for business use. Follow these steps to get it connected to your Wi-Fi and register it to your phone system.

1. Unbox and Charge

  1. Unbox the phone, charging base, and accessories.

  2. Insert the battery into the handset.

  3. Place the handset on the charging base.

    • Let it charge for at least 3 hours before first use.


2. Power On

  1. Press and hold the Power/End Call button until the Grandstream logo appears.

  2. The phone will boot up and display the main screen.


3. Connect to Wi-Fi

  1. On the main screen, press the Menu soft key.

  2. Navigate to: Settings → Wi-Fi.

  3. Select Enable Wi-Fi (if not already enabled).

  4. Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list.

  5. Enter your Wi-Fi password using the keypad, then press OK.

  6. Once connected, you’ll see the Wi-Fi icon on the top status bar.


Fireline Communications Adanced Provisioning

  1. If you purchased your telephone from Fireline Communications, once your phone connects to the internet it should automatically configure itself and connect to your system. Please give it a moment to proceed with the setup.
  2. If you purchased your telephone from another party, you may request to be added to Advanced Provisioning or continue to step 4.

4. Get the Phone’s IP Address

  1. From the main screen, press Menu → Status → Network Status.

  2. Write down the IP address shown (example: 192.168.1.55).

    • You’ll use this to access the phone’s web interface for setup.


5. Access the Web Interface

  1. On a computer connected to the same network, open a web browser.

  2. Type the phone’s IP address into the address bar (example: http://192.168.1.55).

  3. Log in with the default credentials:

    • Username: admin

    • Password: (printed on the sticker under the battery)


6. Auto Provisioning Server

  1. In the web interface, go to Maintenance Upgrade and Provisioning
  2. Set the following options
    • Upgrade via: HTTP, HTTPS (match your server)

    • Config Server Path: e.g. http://provisioning.yourdomain.com

      • Contact support for the Config Server Path.

3. Scroll down and click “Save and Apply”
4. Reboot the phone

The phone should contact the server and download the configuration from your system.

Configure Your SIP Account if you are not using auto provisioning

  1. In the web interface, go to Accounts → Account 1 → General Settings.

  2. Enter your VoIP provider or PBX details:

    • SIP Server: (your VoIP server address)

    • SIP User ID: (extension or username)

    • Authenticate ID: (often the same as SIP User ID)

    • Password: (VoIP account password)

  3. Click Save & Apply.


7. Confirm Registration

  1. On the phone’s main screen, look for the line icon or “Registered” status.

  2. Make a test call to confirm both outgoing and incoming calls work.


8. Adjust Basic Settings (Optional)

  • Time/Date: Menu → Settings → Time & Date.

  • Ring Tone: Menu → Settings → Audio → Ringtone.

  • Handset Name: Menu → Settings → Device Info → Device Name.
